ResidentialColleges (RCs) at HKUST(GZ) are integral to this enriching learningenvironment;
equally important, RCs provide a personable, supportive settingfor student growth. In such a vibrant living-learning community, students fromdiverse backgrounds and professional aspirations are encouraged to form aunique, life-long network with each other. Throughout their university journey,students in RCs receive supports from a dedicated team of RC Masters, staff,academic advisors, tutors, and peers.
PositionOverview:
An RCMaster at HKUST(GZ) is pivotal in shaping the College's identity and fosteringits distinctive culture. As a norm, aMaster resides within the College to lead the residential activities as well asto nurtures a strong sense of belonging among residents of about 500undergraduate students.
Additionally,a Master is responsible for managing the administration, management, events,and overall operations of the College. This role entails a steadfast commitmentto the welfare and development of undergraduate students, as well asmaintaining standards of conduct consistent with the consensus within the RC.
KeyResponsibilities:
1.Student Engagement and Informal Learning
▪ Developand deliver a variety of structured and informal co-curricular programs thatenhance residential life and experiential learning.
▪ Partnerwith faculty, staff, and students to bridge academic and extracurricularpursuits, fostering holistic student growth and engagement.
▪ Monitorstudents' academic progress and provide support as necessary in partnershipwith academic advisors who are faculty members of Hubs/Colleges.
▪ Reinforcecompliance with academic and undergraduate regulations and procedures,maintaining university standards.
2.Administration and Leadership
▪ Managethe College's administration, including training, coaching, and leading bothresidential and non-residential faculty and staff, in collaboration with otherRC Masters.
▪ Formulate,implement, review, and enhance policies and operating procedures within theCollege in alignment with the University Policy Framework.
▪ Overseethe performance of the RC operational system by fostering effectivepartnerships with other campus units, academic advisors, personal tutors, andpeer buddies. Ensure that these setups are fit for purpose while providingguidance and constructive feedback to the University for continuousimprovement.
▪ Planand manage the College's operating budget and financial operations.
▪ Addressand manage crisis situations effectively within the College.
3.Community Building and Welfare
▪ Strengthenthe affiliation among residents with the University, fostering a sense of prideand belonging.
▪ Collaboratewith university planners to design spaces that are functional, innovative, andreflect the diversity of the student body, supporting both social and academicneeds.
▪ Designand implement initiatives that enhance student well-being and support theiroverall welfare.
▪ Championa multicultural community by organizing events that celebrate globalperspectives (e.g., cultural festivals, language exchanges) and nurture dynamicinteractions.
▪ Contributeto university committees, offering insights and recommendations forinstitutional enhancement.
▪ Collaboratewith academic and administrative units to elevate the student experience andpromote academic excellence and international outlook.
4. AllOther Duties as Assigned

- Apassionate advocate for student growth, committed to fostering a nurturing anddynamic living and learning environment.
- Richlife experiences, ideally with expertise in areas including but not limited toarts, drama, music, sports, or scientific fields etc. Familiarity with academicenvironment is a plus.
- Highintegrity and a sincere desire to positively impact the lives of studentswithin the College.
-Exemplary leadership skills, with a strong sense of teamwork and the ability tomodel positive behaviour.
- Acommitment to reside within the Residential College, maintaining close tieswith the student community and actively engaging in college life.
